The Slovenian Hop Growers Association was challenged to host the 57th Congress of the International Hop Growers’ Convention in Ljubljana, Žalec & Savinjska Valley from 29 July to 1 August 2019.

They have chosen our agency as a PCO – professional congress organiser. We have started our cooperation in November 2018 by creating the first budget and preliminary programme. The main challenge was to organise the congress between two locations, Ljubljana as the main venue for the Congress opening and General Assembly and Savinja Valley, the heart of Slovenian Hop Growing. Traditionally the programme of Hop Growers’ Congress includes several site-inspections of the local farms and evening social events.

Grand Hotel Union was the main venue in Ljubljana, where most of the participants were staying. After the Welcome reception on the first evening, the next morning we have organised transfers with English and German-speaking guides to Žalec, where local hop growers joined the international participants at the Official opening ceremony. The highlights were evening events: beer tasting at the Union Brewery in Ljubljana, Slovenian evening at the Beer fountain in Žalec and the Gala Dinner in the Union Hall of the Grand Hotel Union in Ljubljana. 165 participants from 15 countries were amazed by the Slovenian hospitality, nature, local food… and beer.
