Gastronomic guide to Bela Krajina
THE CHALLENGES
Interest in gastronomy is steadily growing, including Slovenia’s designation as a European gastronomic region in 2020. Bela Krajina is an exceptional but overlooked culinary destination. The aim of this project was to put the destination on the map of Slovenia’s best culinary regions. The key challenge was how to present and adapt a largely unknown offer to “foodies”. The brochure aims to make the enjoyment of food and drink one of the important motives for visiting Bela Krajina.
THE SOLUTION
We approached the project in a classic journalistic way and inspected the whole offer. Together with the client, RIC Bela Krajina, we developed an innovative content concept, which also included local specialities such as “gribeljski žbul” – an indigenous gribelj onion, Belokranjska pogača, Černomaljska presta, Belokranjska pramenka – an indigenous breed of sheep. We also looked for inspiration in the wider context of the region, which we called “Slovenia’s Garden of Eden”.
RESULTS
The first printed and digital brochure was produced and proudly presented to the client on 15 June 2021. The client and the destination were very proud of the brochure, also due to the fact that we had found some really excellent local suppliers that deserved special attention and presentation. Taste Bela Krajina is just the beginning of getting to know and showcase all the culinary delights and goodies the destination has to offer.
